Valerie Smith has volunteered her sewing skills for various projects at the Lorain Palace Theater for many years. She sewed vests for the theater ushers; sewed and assembled the 48-foot long table skirt for the 2009 Polar Express train layout in the marble lobby; and organized the Palace Youth Theater (PYT) costume room. During her summer vacations she has sewed costumes for the PYT productions of Honk, Jr., Willy Wonka, Jr., Seussical the Musical, Peter Pan and The Wizard of Oz. Valerie is a Public Services Coordinator for the Lorain Public Library System. She has worked as a librarian at the Main Library in Lorain since 1974.
